FAQ

Do you breed more than just Papillons?

No. Even though my parents breed Golden Retreivers on the same farm, I only own Papillons. I enjoy helping out with the Goldens a lot, but my favorite place on the whole farm is my Papillon house.

Is there a wait list? And how does it work?

Yes, if there are no puppies available at this time, you are more than welcome to put your name on our list. Get in touch with Margaret through the Contact page, and she will set that up for you!

Our wait list has the "first come, first serve" policy, so if your name is the first on the list, you will be the first to be notified about any available puppies. If your name is second, you will be notified after #1 has made a choice, etc.

Do I need to make a down-payment?
When and how much?

Yes, a 10% down-payment is required after the puppy is at least one week old.

Do you provide any health or genetic guarantee?

Yes, we do! View the Lil' Sunbeams' Papillons contract here.

  1. a bag of dry kibble

  2. one can wet food

  3. a collar

  4. a toy and blanket that smell like Mom and the litter-mates

  5. some of their favorite treats and chew

  6. a small amount of vitamin and mineral mixture that helps their joints

Will my puppy be up-to-date on shots and dewormer?

Yes! All puppies are dewormed regularly and are up-to-date on all necessary puppy shots. View our Medical Checklist here.

Will my puppy be micro-chipped and declawed?

No. We do not micro-chip, and my vet does not recommend removing dew-claws from small dogs as it may ruin their legs.

Do you do out of state shipping?

No. I want to personally meet my puppies' new parents and have them see my dogs and the home they grew up in.

Is my puppy going to be AKC registerable?

Yes, all my puppies come with full AKC registration!

Are your adult dogs OFA or Genetic tested?

None of my dogs are OFA tested so far, but I have done the Embark Genetic tests for all my dogs. Everyone tested very good!

What is a Papillons' average lifespan?

With lots of love and fresh air, plenty of exercise, and a healthy, well-balanced diet, Papillons have been known to live to 15 years. Some may even live longer!

What do I need to do to get my home ready to adopt one of these Lil' Sunbeams?

  1. Have quality puppy food, wet and dry, on hand. Lil' Sunbeams' Papillons will provide you with enough of what they are used to eating to last at least a week.

  2. Prepare a small corner with a snuggly little bed and a small puppy pad. My puppies are partially pad-trained, so they will be most comfortable to go potty on a pad.

  3. Make sure your puppy will be safe from any larger animal that may hurt him or her! Remember, you puppy may weigh as little as 22 oz. at 9 weeks, and a larger dog or cat may hurt it without even meaning to.

  4. Buy a brand of high-fat cottage cheese. Cottage cheese is a good, high quality calcium that's easy for them to digest. I have learned that Papillons need a high calcium diet.

  5. Be aware! You will fall hopelessly in love! Your puppy will steal your heart and your time, as well as be your favorite snuggle bug!
